We were eager to release it, here it is! The Farther, new snowboard, new mold. Top of the range as always at Stone. Our long-time graphic designer Steve Goilliiot Villers had fun with the aim of highlighting our beautiful mountains. Pure and racy, the Farther is a real board to enjoy the beautiful powder but not only. On the slopes you can make beautiful curves at high speed thanks to its Carbon X reinforcement from nose to tail by making restart turns without hanging. In the powder with its shape and its set back, you can slide at full speed without feeling any discomfort due to its width at the waist and its construction. With its prominent nose, its worked curves and its raised tail you can even move in switch. In the backcountry you can have fun in all types of snow. It is a board that responds while being fun. The farther is intended for intermediate to advanced riders.

The top sheet of this board is made of biaxial fiber so as not to tire you all day long, you can ride without feeling any discomfort. We have worked its core for this purpose using FSC poplar from Polish forests, not far from where we manufacture. We have assigned a flex of 8 for this freeride board by playing with the thickness of the core. From experience we know that a board must be a little stiff at the start to get used to you quickly. The flex will adjust the more you ride. The finish of the Farther varnish is glossy to really bring out the design.

Nothing better than having 5 cm of set back to float in the powder. You will have a longer nose and a slightly smaller tail, ideal for restarting in turns and hitting in fresh snow. Rest assured on average or mediocre snow it works great too.

For a high-end board, you should not skimp on the quality of the base. We are known for always having the hardest and most resistant to stones. For once, the farther has a full black IS 7200 base, structured to gain speed. The blacker it is and the less cut it has, the better it will be for sliding. In freeride, you have to think about repairs in the event of a snag, which is why there is a simple logo under the front foot. Elsewhere, if you touch it, you can repair it with black ptex with a spin in the machine and that's it. The board is factory waxed, no need to do it upon receipt.

Sole details: structured 7200 sintered sole.

What is meant by flex?

This is the way a board tends to twist. At Stone we evaluate it from 0 to 10. The stiffer a board is, the more it is designed to send & less forgive. Conversely, the softer a board is, the less responsive it will be when relaunching but will forgive you certain mistakes. Let's explain: at the start, the softer a board is, the more over the sessions the board will become a real uncooked sausage. At Stone we consider that riding a board that is a little stiff at the start is really optimal. Why? The core of a board is always made over the days, weeks, months that you ride your board. At Stone, a Flex 7 is considered a good alternative to go everywhere. We will then gravitate between 6 & 8 to lean more or less towards a particular desire as regards the flex.

Flex 8: attributed to freeride snowboards to have a strong rebound and a grip. Sometimes, the stiffer it is, the less forgiving it is, you have to be strong on your legs. In splitboard, this flex is also for fans of boards that do not move in the axis or in conversions. The flex is always done by the rider.

FREERIDE

What's better than practicing your sport freely? Going off the beaten track, jumping any bump, enjoying the powder in all its forms! Freeriding is the very essence of snowboarding. To do this, it is essential to find out about the risks presented by the riding area, necessary to know the weather and wise to have the right board. Generally less centered on its inserts with sometimes a typical shape, the freeride snowboard is set back on the back leg (set back). Why? The more you are on the back leg, the less you will force & the more you will float in the powder. You can recenter your bindings by moving them from insert to insert but if you don't do it you will not be hindered on the slope to make a turn or any curves.
